Bento boxes have been all the rage when it comes to lunches but what exactly are they and how do you make them? Bento is a single-portion takeout or home-packed meal that’s common in Japanese cuisine. A traditional bento consists of rice, fish or meat and one or more pickled or cooked vegetables, usually in box shaped container. While the traditional version sounds a bit dicey for the average kid, there are plenty of ways to make your own bento boxes at home that are filled with fresh produce, healthy grains and protein.
